Mead Johnson Nutrition Celebrates IPO, First Day of Trading on NYSE

Mead Johnson Nutrition today opened for trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “MJN” after its successful IPO in which it raised $720 million in gross proceeds. Mead Johnson Nutrition, with 2008 revenue of nearly $2.9 billion, is a global leader in pediatric nutrition and best known for its Enfamil® infant formula and “Enfa” brand franchise.

Mead Johnson Nutrition, based in Evansville, IN, is the first major U.S. company to go public in 2009 and the largest U.S. IPO since American Water Works (NYSE: AWK) listed on the NYSE on April 23, 2008.

“Mead Johnson is a well-respected global company and a welcome addition to our family of NYSE-listed companies,” said Scott R. Cutler, NYSE Euronext EVP and Head of Listings, Americas. “As the first major IPO in 2009, Mead Johnson demonstrates that great companies can raise money, go public, and list on our markets even in challenging market conditions. We look forward to providing the company with the superior liquidity, services and brand visibility associated with listing on NYSE Euronext markets.”

To celebrate the special occasion, Mead Johnson Nutrition Chief Executive Officer Stephen W. Golsby rang today’s opening bell, joined by the company’s management committee.

Mead Johnson Nutrition is formerly a division of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, which is listed on the NYSE under the symbol “BMY.”
