Canadian Owned Company, PINKARAT, Nails It

Co-founders Angela Tang and Sharon Dinh empower women during the pandemic through self-care, making nail-care accessible for women anytime, anywhere.

When North America first noticed signs of the COVID-19 virus, there was no PINKARAT, there were just two friends going about their day-to-day lives: Sharon Dinh, founder of an online digital agency, and Angela Tang, a Vancouver based salon owner.

Eventually, Angela’s salon shut down due to city-wide restrictions forced on by the pandemic. It was then that the duo realized a new gap in the market and a chance to reimagine salon-grade manicures and pedicures from the comfort of one’s home.

“When everything was still ‘normal,’ Sharon and I were both very busy ladies, but we would occasionally get together for a girls night full of self-care, pampering, and catching up. This was how we de-stressed and relaxed,” said Angela. “We wanted to make sure that this form of self-love and self-care was preserved — especially when women needed it the most to feel their best, because confidence is power.”

With a wealth of combined knowledge in both the beauty industry and e-commerce, Angela and Sharon joined their creative forces and built PINKARAT.

Born in March 2020, PINKARAT signature colours are a true reflection of the partners’ vibrant personalities, eye for strong design, and their commitment to providing everyone the ability to practice self-care and self-expression anytime and anywhere.

“Our goal has always been to empower women. With PINKARAT, we’re giving women the confidence they need with the quick and easy PINKARAT all-in-one nail system,” said Sharon.

The PINKARAT self-manicure kit is Canada’s first must-have beauty toolkit to create flawless, long-lasting manicures and pedicures. It features all the tools needed for any woman to “do-it-yourself,” at home with ease.

Through PINKARAT, Angela and Sharon have not only been able to build a business that empowers other women, but they’ve also used this platform to give back to other communities.

For this young company, PINKARAT has already sponsored Alexis Ellis, a contestant representing the LGBQT community in the Canada Galaxy Pageants, and the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice for their 2021 Gift of Time gala — a fundraiser making it possible for BC’s only pediatric palliative care provider to offer services to families at no cost.

Respecting the environment, PINKARAT is organic, non-toxic, vegan, cruelty-free, and paraben free. “We create colours that reflect the beauty of the world around us. Diversity and inclusive beauty in all communities is at the core of everything we do,” Sharon said.
