A corner of the truck was visible behind Biden and other speakers on live feeds of the event. Reporters on the ground had an even better view of the truck.

The pickup's front end matches what we've seen in teaser images Ford has released. Up front there's an unbroken LED light bar that stretches from headlight to headlight. The grille appears to be closed off, as it is in most electric vehicles. Since there's no engine up front to cool, EVs don't need to suck in as much air as combustion-engine cars as they travel down the road.
Overall, the F-150 Lightning looks quite similar to the gas-powered F-150 it's sitting next to. The truck in full will be revealed during a livestreamed event at Ford's Dearborn, Michigan, headquarters on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. EDT. Ford says it will be the most powerful F-150 in its lineup, and that it will go on sale in the middle of 2022.
Biden later took a preproduction F-150 Lightning for a test drive in an empty lot. "This sucker's quick," he told reporters.
Biden appeared at Ford's Rouge Electric Vehicle Center — where it will build the F-150 Lightning — to promote his $2 trillion American Jobs Plan, which includes $174 billion to accelerate adoption of EVs.
