Following his training, he became board-certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine through the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). The AOBIM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults.
Holding membership status with several professional organizations, Dr. Korkigian is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Internist, the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons and remains as the Chief of the Department of Medicine at William Beaumont Farmington Hills for the last 10 years.
In recognition of his clinical and academic excellence, Dr. Korkigian is the recipient of several awards. He has voted for the Top Doctor Award in Hour Magazine Detroit eight times and received the Trainer of the Year Award at William Beaumont Farmington Hills nine times. Additionally, he was voted National Teacher of the Year by the American College of Osteopathic Internists in 2013 and inducted into the Gillum Society of Master Fellows in 2015, one of the highest honors awarded by the American College of Osteopathic Internists.
