Detroit, MI – Tonja “The Shoe Lady” Ayers pens an intriguing story about adultery, political scandal and living on the down low in “Low Down,” her ninth and most shocking book. True to her straight-no-chaser-style, the bestselling author crafts riveting moments that mimic real life situationships.  The urban crime drama is “slightly parallel to true life events” involving an ambitious city councilman, a lovesick Detroit Lions player, a self-centered party promoter and a conflicted pastor.

“Low Down” is a spiraling tale about men on the down low. The “DL” as some call it, is a man living a straight life, but having relations with men unbeknownst to his wife or the woman in his life. There are many reasons men live down low lives but nevertheless, many see it as being low down,” explains Ayers.  

Readers are willingly entangled as they meet and at times, relate to the complex characters in part one of an upcoming series. The multihyphenate who is known for her shoe business but is also a filmmaker, with films “Stay in Your Place” and “Chocolate Kiss” streaming on Tubi and Amazon Prime.

Early reviews of the novel describe it as “her best one yet.” The official launch of “Low Down” will be June 12, 2021, online, and at The Hustle & Grind Urban Literary Convention. The event is free to the public  and will be held at the Elite Banquet Hall located at 14100 Puritan, Detroit, MI 48227. Several of Ayers’ fellow scribes will join her as she engages with book lovers including Terri Woods, Wahida Clark and Shannon Holmes.
