When it comes to painting your home or business, the type of paint you choose will make all the difference in the world. Exterior and Interior Paint: What’s the Difference?

Interior and exterior paint are both made of pigments and solvents (and other stuff, but let’s focus on these). Some pigments in interior paints can fade faster than those used in exterior paints. Since exterior paints have to stand up to the elements, they’re also made with what is referred to as “flexible” resins, which help to maintain the appearance of the paint, including its color and surface.

In other words, exterior paints are more durable than interior paints, and as such, you could technically use exterior paints indoors, but you should avoid using interior paints on outdoor surfaces of your home or business.
