American Water Joins Military Spouse Employment Partnership

American Water (NYSE: AWK), the nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, announced today that has joined the Department of Defense Military Spouse Employment Partnership. The Military Spouse Employment Partnership is an employment and career partnership connecting military spouses with more than 390 partner employers who have committed to recruit, hire, promote and retain military spouses in portable careers.

American Water officially joined the Military Spouse Employment Partnership on Oct. 16, 2018, at the annual induction ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City at Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Va. The partnership initially launched on June 29, 2011 to serve spouses from all military services. Signing on behalf of American Water was Brian K. Bruce, president, West Virginia American Water, who, as a veteran and father of a veteran currently serving as an Air Force reservist, understands the challenges military families’ face that may create obstacles to employment.

“Military spouses are valued members of our community and we welcome the depth of their experience and diversity of skills,” said Bruce. “By joining the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, American Water is becoming part of an even larger collective effort to create opportunities for spouses across the country.”
