LOS ANGELES - Feb. 12, 2018 - PRLog -- Call on Trump to Declare a National Day of Remembrance on the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Assassination

Noted political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson and author of the forthcoming Fifty Years Later: Why the Murder of Dr. King Still Hurts (Middle Passage Press: March 2018) has called on President Trump to declare a National Day of Remembrance on the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Assassination April 4, 2018.

Hutchinson says, "Trump proudly touts the bust of Dr. King in the Oval Office. He repeatedly claims ownership of King Jr.'s towering legacy." He boasts that King is "a man I have studied, watched, and admired for my entire life."

"Trump's declaration of a national day of remembrance, reflection on and dedication to the ideals and struggles of Dr. King for civil rights, economic uplift and peace would be a fitting tribute to Dr. King's memory," says Hutchinson, "It would be both a reminder and reassurance to millions that the White House has not abandoned commitment to King's dream and the sacrifice he made of his life to fulfilling that dream."

In his new book, 50 Years Later: Why the Murder of Dr. King Still that commemorates and reflects on the 50th anniversary of King's assassination in April 1968, Hutchinson takes an in-depth look at the still powerful impact and relevance of Dr. King's struggles to the Trump era.

50 Years Later: Why the Murder of Dr. King Still Hurts draws from King's writings, letters, declassified government files, and documents and essays that focus on King's murder and the half century of change after King's murder. This includes an assessment of " King Versus Trump" and "What if King Had Lived?"
