American Water Raises $470,000 for United Way Nationwide

American Water (NYSE: AWK), the nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, announced today the company has raised approximately $470,000 company-wide for local United Way organizations across the nation.

“Our employees have a long history of supporting United Way, and we are fortunate to have such generous people with a wonderful giving spirit,” said Susan Story, president and CEO of American Water. “This year’s devastating hurricanes, flooding and tornadoes have affected millions of people and through our contributions to United Way, we are building up stronger communities and creating brighter futures for children and families.”

American Water’s support of United Way is part of its customer commitment that aims to create a lasting, positive impact on the communities the company serves. During the last ten years, American Water has donated $5 million to United Way efforts across the country.
