NBIA Offers Attendees International Entrepreneurship Best Practices at Upcoming Conference

Day-Long Workshops and General Session Topics Provide Essential Knowledge and Strategies during the 29th Annual International Conference for Business Incubation in Denver, Colo. April 25 – 29, 2015
PRLog - April 7, 2015 - ORLANDO, Fla. -- The National Business Incubator Association (NBIA), an international non-profit organization and global advocate for the support of building entrepreneurial-driven economic ecosystems, will play host to nearly 600 attendees at its upcoming 29th Annual International Conference for Business Incubation. The international event taking place in Denver, Colo. brings together incubator and entrepreneurial support professionals from across the globe in a series of pre-conference workshops April 25 – 26, 2015 and annual conference April 27 – 29, 2015.

As the premier event in the industry, this conference provides a space for people to connect with others in the field, learn new techniques and explore new trends. Daylong workshops are available prior to the main conference for in-depth training on the industry’s most relevant topics, while nearly 50 sessions are led by some of the most experienced practitioners in the field. For 2015, NBIA expanded the program content to include several international focused sessions, including:

Small Business Network of the Americas' Third International Sister Center Workshop

Pre- Conference: Saturday, April 25 / 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Produced in conjunction with the U.S. Department of State and NBIA, the International Sister Center workshop brings together incubators, accelerators, and other entrepreneurial support programs from across the Americas, with the goal of connecting like-minded programs to share best practices, market knowledge and business opportunities in their respective markets.

The New Soft Landings Incubator

Pre- Conference: Sunday, April 26 / 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The NBIA Soft Landings Incubators differ from each other in location, scale and scope, but they share common ground in their exemplary business incubation practices and track records of success in international programming. NBIA has captured the best practices from those incubators into a one-day program for managers wanting to attract foreign firms to their markets.

NBIA Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum

Pre- Conference: Sunday, April 26 / 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum brings together managers in the global business incubation industry to share insights and to collaborate on best practices for launching, financing and sustaining international incubators, accelerators and entrepreneurial-based economic development programs.

International Approaches to National Programs for Incubators

Main Conference: Monday, April 27 / 11:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

Some countries are receiving government funding to create national initiatives to support incubators and other entrepreneurial support programs. Here the lessons learned from similar initiatives in Sweden and Brazil. This discussion will cover setting national standards, tangible methods for encouraging learning and engagement between incubators, and strategies for improving incubator sustainability.

Emprendador: Addressing the Unique Needs of Latino Incubators

Main Conference: Monday, April 27 / 2:30 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

This session explores the unique issues related to creating an accelerator or incubation program to aid in the successful development of Latino-led new businesses. Participants will create strategies related to finding investors, developing a mentor network, providing professional development and securing funds to sustain incubator operations. Though focused on Latino entrepreneurs, the lessons learned are applicable in many niche markets.
