American Water Resources Receives Contract Renewal With City of Burlington, Iowa

American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, announced that its American Water Resources subsidiary has been awarded a 5-year contract renewal as the preferred vendor to deliver service line protection to homeowners in the City of Burlington, Iowa. The protection programs provide homeowners with peace of mind from the unexpected repair costs associated with leaks and breaks in water lines, as well as clogs or blockages in sewer lines running through their property.

In 2010, American Water Resources (AWR) submitted a proposal to make the program available to homeowners and was selected by the City of Burlington to offer Water Line and Sewer Line Protection Programs. AWR has since managed almost 3,000 service line contracts for the City of Burlington with an over 97 percent customer satisfaction rating. In addition, enrolled homeowners have saved approximately $180,000 in unexpected repair costs.

American Water Resources is committed to helping those who are less fortunate by supporting local community programs. The Help to Others Program (H2O) enables municipalities to use designated funds to assist homeowners who are experiencing water or sewer line issues, and not enrolled in the protection programs through American Water Resources. At the municipality’s discretion, it can determine which homeowners are eligible under the Program.
