Kennesaw National Battlefield Park New Monument Dedication to Soldiers on 27 June
PRLog - Jun. 4, 2014 - MARIETTA, Ga. -- The 15th Infantry Regiment Association, in collaboration with the National Park Service, announced today the details of the Dedication Ceremony, on 27 June 2014, of a monument in the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park honoring the service of the 15th Infantry, 16th Infantry, 18th Infantry, and 19th Infantry Regiments for their action during the Civil War at Kennesaw Mountain. The Monument Dedication Ceremony is scheduled for Noon, 27 June 2014 during the 150th anniversary events at the Park. An Honor Platoon from the 1st Battalion - 15th Infantry, Color Guard from the 1st Battalion – 19th Infantry, and musical support from the 313th Army Band will be present.  The Guest Speaker for the Ceremony is COL Jack Marr, Chief of Staff, Maneuver Center of Excellence, Fort Benning, GA and a former Commander of 1-15 Infantry.

The two year effort by the 15th Infantry Regiment Association was made possible by the generous donations of individual and corporate sponsors without whose support this Monument would not have been possible.

Active duty and former members of these Regiments will participate in the Dedication Ceremony.  Active duty soldiers of the 15th Infantry and 19th Infantry have partnered with the 15th Infantry Regiment Association to erect the Monument as a tribute to Civil War members of these fine historic units.

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is a 2,965-acre National Battlefield that preserves a Civil War battleground of the Atlanta Campaign. Opposing forces maneuvered and fought there from 19 June 1864 until 2 July 1864.  The Park is located northwest of metro Atlanta along Interstate 75.
