Citibank Appoints John Welch as Houston Market President

Citibank® today announced the appointment of banking veteran John Welch as Market President for Houston, TX. In this position, Welch, who joined Citibank in 2013, will collaborate with Citi teams across the greater Houston area as well as community stakeholders, businesses, civic organizations and government partners to ensure strong local engagement.

Welch has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. In addition to his recent appointment as Market President, John oversees the sales, relationship and credit management efforts of Relationship Managers in the Houston Commercial Banking market for Citi. Throughout his career, Welch has also held numerous leadership positions in international and corporate banking.

Welch is active in community and professional organizations. He has served as Chairman of the Greater Houston Partnership European Business Forum as well as Chairman on the Mayor’s International Trade and Development Council. He is a past Advisory Board Member of the YMCA, Director for the CyFair Sports Association and former President of the Blackhorse Homeowner’s Association. As part of his international banking background, he has held positions on multiple European Chamber of Commerce Boards including past President of the Swedish American Chamber and current President of the Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce.
