California American Water Purchases Operating Assets of Dunnigan Water System

California American Water has entered into a purchase agreement to acquire the operating assets of Dunnigan Water Works and assume the responsibility for the provision of water and wastewater services within Dunnigan Water Works’ service area in Yolo County. Dunnigan Water Works is an investor owned Class D Water Utility, regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).

The purchase of the systems will add approximately 253 new water and wastewater service connections to California American Water’s customer base in the Sacramento area. California American Water currently supplies water service to almost 60,000 homes and businesses in areas of Sacramento and Placer Counties.

Dunnigan customers will be served by California American Water’s water treatment and distribution operators who are experts in their fields and hold water and waste water treatment and distribution certifications through the California Department of Public Health.

“As a result of this acquisition, Dunnigan customers will soon have access to expanded customer services,” said California American Water’s Director of Northern California Operations S. Audie Foster. “Our services include a 24-hour customer service center, web self-service, paperless billing, water efficiency programs and rebates and our H2O Help to Others Program, which provides Low Income Rate Assistance to seniors on low fixed incomes and to families facing financial hardships.”

”This is a positive move forward for the community of Dunnigan,” said Dunnigan Water Works owner Mel Smith.

California American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), provides high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to approximately 600,000 people.

Founded in 1886, American Water is the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company.
