ACAC Unveils New Certification in Structural Drying

By: PRLog
PRLog - Nov. 20, 2013 - The American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) has unveiled an entry-level certification program in water damage restoration and structural drying.

The Council-certified Residential Structural Dryer (CRSD) is a “first step” credential for those who plan to become accredited structural drying professionals.  The CRSD is available to all knowledgeable candidates regardless of their field experience. Based on publicly available science-based references, the CRSD knowledge base covers a range of topics relevant to water damage restoration.

“All of our accredited certifications require at least two years of verified field experience,” said Charlie Wiles, ACAC executive director.  “The CRSD allows freshly trained structural drying professionals to be ACAC-certified based on industry knowledge while they accumulate the experience necessary for our higher designations.”

Candidates for the CRSD must pass a closed-book examination developed by the ACAC certification board.  The CRSD examination is conducted at any one of more than 600 approved proctoring locations around the world.

Though a specific training course is not required, ACAC recommends that candidates seek formal training to prepare for the examination.  Independently accredited training courses are listed on the website of ACAC’s sister organization, the Foundation for Accredited Learning (www.accreditedlearning.org).

The American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) is an independent, non-profit certifying body founded in 1993 to serve the indoor air quality industry.  ACAC offers third-party accredited personnel certifications in fields related to indoor environmental consulting, remediation and management. ACAC certifies more than 2,800 professionals across North America and overseas.  For more information, visit the ACAC website at www.acac.org.
