California American Water’s Consumer Confidence Report Cards Available on Facebook

California American Water announced today that the company’s 2012 Consumer Confidence Reports (water quality reports) are now accessible to customers through its Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/caamwater.

The annual Consumer Confidence Report is a performance measure of water quality supplied by California American Water against the compliance standards established by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the California Department of Public Health. The report describes local drinking water sources, tests results conducted on the water and the substances detected as well as their levels. Commonly asked questions and the answers concerning local drinking water are also included in the report.

In January 2013, the EPA announced that water utilities had the option to inform customers of their Consumer Confidence Report’s availability at a specific website address as opposed to printing and sending it as a direct mailing or bill insert. The California Department of Public Health adopted the EPA’s ruling on CCRs and California American Water acted swiftly to take advantage of this more efficient and environmentally friendly option for delivering reports. As a result, the reports will not be printed and mailed to all customers as in previous years. Customers may also find their specific report on the California American Water website at http://www.amwater.com/caaw.

Printed copies of the report will be available to customers who cannot – or do not wish to – access it online. Customers can call the company’s 24-hour customer service center at 1-888-237-1333 to request a printed copy of their district’s report.

New delivery methods support the water industry’s commitment to ongoing environmental quality and do not minimize the importance of the annual report to customers, according to California American Water President Rob MacLean.
