Citibank Opens Flagship Branch in Westwood, Los Angeles

Citibank today celebrated the opening of its new flagship branch in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. The 6,000-square-foot branch on the corner of Wilshire and Westwood Boulevards is the first Citibank branch of its kind on the West Coast. U.S. Consumer and Commercial Banking President Cece Stewart and Citibank Southern California Market President Lisa Deloney were joined at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new branch today by Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Gary Toebben, First Star Co-Founder and President Peter Samuelson, community members and Citibank employees.

The new branch is Citibank’s fourth flagship location in the U.S. – two are in New York City and one is in Washington, D.C. Citibank flagship branches draw on ‘smart banking’ technologies pioneered by Citi in Asia. The large branches feature interactive media walls, enhanced-image ATMs, Citibank Online terminals and a full suite of banking capabilities, including FX services and dedicated staff for retail, small business, commercial, personal wealth management and mortgage customers, as well as Citigold Relationship Banking.

“Citibank’s flagship branches combine a unique level of service, convenience and technology for customers and clients, and they serve as anchors in communities in which we have deep roots and a meaningful presence,” said Ms. Stewart. “The opening of this new flagship branch is the latest example of our strong commitment to Los Angeles, and its location – one of the busiest and most visible intersections in all of California – will enhance our ability to serve clients with excellence.”

The new Citibank branch resides in the heart of pedestrian-friendly Westwood, adjacent to UCLA. The area is a vibrant metropolitan hub, and the new branch will serve a diverse customer base of global clients, residents, local businesses, university students and others. Reflecting Citibank’s global reach and Los Angeles’ multilingual population, branch employees are available to assist customers in ten languages: English, Farsi, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Vietnamese, Armenian, Turkish, Hebrew and Spanish.

“This new world-class branch builds on Citibank’s already strong presence in Los Angeles,” said Ms. Deloney. “Our banking relationship with hundreds of thousands of consumers and businesses in the area is matched by our long history of commitment to supporting local communities and community partners throughout the region.”

Citi has collaborated with a number of leading Los-Angeles-based public and non-profit organizations to support economic empowerment and growth for underserved individuals, families and communities by expanding access to financial products and services, and building sustainable business solutions and innovative partnerships.

  • Since 2011, Citi has worked with the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and the Los Angeles Unified School District to provide financial education and promote savings through academic achievement for students from low- to moderate-income families.
  • Citi supports First Star’s efforts to improve the lives of abused and neglected children. The new Citibank flagship branch will host First Star financial education seminars to teach children about career paths in banking.
  • Over the past two years, Citi has partnered with the University of Southern California’s Minority Business Development Agency, the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Housing Department, and the Southern California Minority Business Development Council to implement the Bridges to Business Success program that is designed to certify, train and empower minority-owned small businesses. In 2012, Citi received the Corporate Innovator of the Year Award from Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s Office of Economic and Business Policy for its leadership in the program.
  • Citi supports the Youth Policy Institute (YPI) and partners with the agency through its Los Angeles Promise Neighborhood Initiative – a comprehensive place-based anti-poverty program. Citi and YPI together launched the Families Save: College Bound Savings initiative to help low-income families save for post-secondary education.

The new branch is open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am PT – 5:00 pm PT, Friday 8:00 am PT – 6:00 pm PT and Saturday and from 9:00 am PT – 1:00 pm PT. Customers can also bank through Citibank for iPad®, Citi MobileSM (on any iPhone®, iPod touch® or Android™ device) and Citibank Online.
