California American Water Observes Drinking Water Week

California American Water announced its participation in Drinking Water Week, May 5-11, 2013, supporting this year’s theme – “What do you know about H2O.” California American Water will be joining others in the water industry to help consumers appreciate the essential role water plays in public health, fire protection, economic vitality, and overall quality of life.

For more than 35 years the American Water Works Association (AWWA) has celebrated Drinking Water Week, allowing water industry professionals and the communities they serve to join together to recognize the vital role water plays in our daily lives. California American Water is constantly investing and working to improve the water infrastructure statewide. Continuing to provide conservation and sustainability messages to consumers is essential in ensuring sustainable water supply for future generations. To help maintain the quality of our drinking water, California American Water suggests the following tips to consumers:

  • Be conscious of your daily water use and take the necessary steps in your home to be water smart and help preserve this precious natural resource.
  • Be sure that leaking pipes and faucets — indoors and outdoors — are repaired.
  • Take care in the use of garden, lawn, garage or other home products and ensure that they inadvertently do not find their way into groundwater.
  • Dispose of chemicals or other potentially harmful products properly and do not pour them directly into home drains, the sewer, street drains or the lawn.
