California American Water Releases its 2011 Water Quality Reports to Monterey Area Customers

California American Water recently announced the results of its 2011 water quality reports for its seven Monterey District service areas.

The reports show that water quality meets state and federal standards for all of its Monterey main area (the communities of Carmel, Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, Monterey, Del Rey Oaks, Seaside and Sand City), Ryan Ranch, Bishop, Hidden Hills, Ambler Park, Toro and Chualar systems. California American Water serves about 100,000 residents within these areas.

“We are pleased to report that the water supplied to our customers is of higher quality than required by state and federal drinking water standards,” said General Manager Eric Sabolsice. “Our team works hard every day to ensure the highest quality product for our customers. These results are a testament to that effort.”

The annual reports compare California American Water’s water quality with standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the California Department of Public Health. The report also discusses drinking water sources, public health information, substances detected in the water and the levels of those substances. Commonly asked questions and answers concerning drinking water are also included.

The water quality reports, which are updated and distributed annually by California American Water, will be delivered to customers by the end of June.

Those who are not direct recipients of a water bill (e.g., renters) can request a copy of the report for their area from the company’s customer service center at 1-800-565-7292. The reports will also be made available online at www.californiaamwater.com.
