California American Water Appoints Eric Sabolsice As General Manager of Monterey District

California American Water announced today that Eric Sabolsice has been promoted to the position of General Manager, Coastal Division, which includes the Cities of Monterey, Seaside, Pacific Grove, Carmel by the Sea, and Del Rey Oaks, as well as the communities of Carmel Valley, Carmel Highlands, Hidden Hills, Ambler Park, Toro, Bishop, Ryan Ranch, Ralph Lane, and Chualar. Sabolsices’ duties will include overseeing water production and distribution on the Monterey Peninsula as well as customer service, water quality, safety, regulatory and environmental compliance.

Sabolsice has served as the division’s Operations Manager since 2009 and his resume includes over 23 years of water utility experience leading the operation and maintenance of some of the largest and most complex water treatment systems in the United States. This past experience includes six years with American Water’s non-regulated business as Project Director for the 25-million gallon per day (MGD) Tampa Bay Water Desalination Facility and the 126-MGD Southeast Water Purification Plant in Houston, Texas. At the Tampa Bay Desalination Plant, Sabolsice worked on the commissioning of the largest desalination plant in the nation.

Prior to joining California American Water, Sabolsice worked for the engineering and consulting firm CDM as Senior Operations and Maintenance Specialist. In this role, he supported the launch of the Orange County Ground Water Replenishment Facility in Fountain Valley, California; the 225 million-gallon-per-day Corbalis Surface Water Treatment Facility in Herndon, Virginia; as well as the 27.5 million-gallon-per-day brackish desalination facility in El Paso, Texas. Sabolsice attended San Jacinto College in Houston, Texas and holds a California Department of Public Health Water Treatment Operator Grade T3 and a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Grade “A” Water Operator Certification.
