AstraZeneca Sponsors the 2011 National Senior Games

AstraZeneca(NYSE:AZN) joined the National Senior Games Association to launch competition at the 2011 National Summer Senior Games in Houston, the largest multi-sport event in the world for men and women age 50 and older.

From June 16-30, more than 10,000 athletes will compete in 18 sports. There are nine AstraZeneca employee athletes competing in the 2011 Summer Games:

  • Deborah Anzalone, M.D., Table Tennis
  • Lynne Bever, Volleyball
  • Robert Biros, Track and Field
  • Michelle Bracken, Swimming
  • Linda Jarjisian, Track and Field
  • Katherine Karageorges-Sharp, Swimming
  • Wayne Michelcavage, Volleyball
  • Mark Quinton, Archery
  • Zhiping You, Badminton

AstraZeneca also will sponsor the Celebration of Athletes event at the George R. Brown Convention Center on June 21, as well as the AstraZeneca Athlete Village, where athletes and spectators can participate in healthy activities ranging from cooking demonstrations to dancing to exercise classes at the AstraZeneca Display.
