Irena Zubcevic was recently selected to be featured in the 1st Edition of IAOTP’s Top 25 Global Impact Leaders by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).

Having worked in sustainable development and international relations for over three decades, Irena is a dynamic, visionary, and results-driven leader with a track record of success in a wide range of fields, including diplomacy, international relations, peacebuilding and sustainable development. She also consistently engages in and sees through complex projects and programs, evaluating and improving them.
Irena received the Empowered Woman of the Year 2021 and Lifetime Achievement awards at the IAOTP's Annual Awards Banquet, held at New York City's Plaza Hotel in 2021. The International Association of Top Professionals honored her by inducting her into its Hall of Fame and including her among its Top 50 Courageous Leaders (IAOTP).
Ms. Zubcevic has significant experience in numerous vital fields, including international relations and sustainable development, peacebuilding, the rule of law, governance, policy and strategy development at national, regional, and international levels, project management, advocacy, and outreach. She collaborates with a wide range of influential people, including heads of state and government, ministers, and C.E.O.s from the commercial sector, N.G.O.s, and a wide variety of media outlets, philanthropic organizations, academic institutions, and other sectors of civil society. With these efforts, she has contributed to numerous reports and written numerous publications.
In advance of voluntary national evaluations on achieving Sustainable Development Goals, Ms. Zubcevic assists countries and stakeholders ranging from governments to the commercial sector and civil society. She has put plans into action for a wide range of problems associated with sustainable development, including climate change, oceans, cities, circular, blue and nature-positive economy, and sustainable transportation.
Currently, Ms. Zubcevic is particularly interested in peacebuilding that connects peace, security, and development; this is closely related to her work to speed up the implementation of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
Among the many illustrious positions, she has held in the past is that of minister-plenipotentiary at the Croatian foreign service, Director 1 of the Ocean, Climate, and Small Island Developing States Branch and Intergovernmental policy and review branch at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and is currently working as the senior advisor at the Croatian Mission to the United Nations.
Ms. Zubcevic received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in linguistics and humanities from the University of Zagreb before beginning her current line of work. She finished her education at Harvard University by obtaining a Diploma for Senior Managers in Government. Ms. Zubcevic speaks a number of foreign languages including English, French, Spanish and Italian, apart from her native Croatian.
Ms. Zubcevic has been honored worldwide numerous times for her outstanding accomplishments & achievements. She will be inducted into IAOTP’s Hall of Fame this year and be honored with the Top 25 Global Impact Leaders Award. She was selected by IAOTP in 2022 as Most Inspirational Member of the Year in Sustainability. She graced the front cover of T.I.P. (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and was featured on the famous Reuters Billboard in Times Square and Planet Hollywood Billboard in Las Vegas. She was featured in an exclusive interview with Miss Universe on T.I.P. Radio (IAOTP). She received IAOTP’s Lifetime Achievement Award and was featured in Top 50 Fearless Leaders Publication. In 2020, she was named IAOTP's Top Chief of the Year in Sustainable Development. She is actively involved in the sustainability industry and is a member of the International Leadership Association, the National Association of Professional Women, and the International Society of Sustainability Professionals. She has also been featured in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World, among many other publications, as a result of her exceptional leadership and dedication.
Aside from her successful career, Irena is also active in her community. She is an involved member of the New York City chapter of Soroptimist International and she has received awards and commendations from organizations on both the national and local levels.
Looking back, Ms. Zubcevic owes her success to her perseverance, ability to comprehend other cultures and mentors with whom she has been honored to work. The desire to aid people is what keeps her going, and she is always utterly forthright in both her professional and personal life. When not working Irena enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and dog Strudel. As a Global Impact leader, she hopes to continue to be a positive force in sustainability and development. The effects of climate change must be mitigated, and our societies must be transformed into net-zero economies in which all members may succeed and produce and consume responsibly if she is to believe in her vision of the World where we need to strive to do good and not less bad
Recent work by Irena Zubcevic includes a contribution to the book "Heroes of Environmental Diplomacy," published by Routledge on June 27, 2022. Her part focuses on the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
