QTL Certifies Three LED Lighting Families with Environmental Product Declarations

New EPDs support QTL’s commitment to transparency, sustainability, and carbon impact

QTL Lighting announced today its PERI, ESSENTIALS, and MICRO 5 LED lighting families earned third-party certified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). The three product lines join a growing list of EPD-rated QTL solutions, helping architects, designers, and specifiers make more informed sustainability decisions, without compromising performance.

EPDs are standardized, transparent reports that describe a product’s carbon impact across its full life cycle, including raw materials, manufacturing, use, and end-of-life. Developed under international ISO standards, EPDs provide consistent data that allows professionals to compare products objectively, support green building goals (including LEED and WELL), and reduce a project’s overall carbon impact.

“We believe building a brighter future starts with better choices—backed by real data,” said Gean Tremaine, CEO of QTL. “EPDs are increasingly essential for architects and lighting designers, and we’re committed to delivering the verified information they need to optimize projects for lower environmental impact.”

Unlike self-declared sustainability claims, EPDs are independently verified and report full-life environmental impacts, including greenhouse gas emissions, energy and water use, and waste generation. The resulting data supports more reliable, apples-to-apples comparisons during product selection that help projects earn points toward LEED and WELL credits.

“The process is rigorous,” Tremaine added. “Verifying every component takes time, people, and investment—but the demand for transparency is growing quickly. We’re seeing increasing momentum from architectural and lighting design firms that prioritize manufacturers who can support sustainability documentation.”

QTL’s three newly EPD-certified lighting families include:

  • PERI — QTL’s smallest integral-driver perimeter fixture, ideal for shallow plenum spaces. PERI is compatible with multiple ceiling types and offers multiple optical and glare-reduction options.
  • ESSENTIALS — Fully assembled, made-to-order architectural fixtures crafted from durable anodized aluminum, with mounting accessories designed for streamlined installation.
  • MICRO 5 — An ultra-compact linear lighting solution delivering precise illumination in profiles as small as a pencil—less than half the size of QTL’s standard fixture offerings.

“Our VERS and Q-CAP families already support LEED, WELL, and other green building goals,” Tremaine said. “We’re excited to add PERI, ESSENTIALS, and MICRO 5 to QTL’s growing list of EPD-certified products.”

The majority of QTL lighting products and power supplies offer Declare labels, and QTL also provides RoHS-compliant solutions and products that meet JA8 and Title 24 requirements.
