Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (Hannover Re US) announces key leadership appointments effective January 1, 2026. Clint Thompson will become President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Pete Schaefer, who will retire on December 31, 2025, after more than two decades of service with the company. The Board of Directors extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Schaefer for his outstanding leadership and contributions over the years and is pleased to announce he will remain closely involved with the company as Vice Chairman of the Hannover Re US Board of Directors.
Clint joined Hannover Re US in 2011 as Chief Risk Officer and has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since 2017. He brings over 25 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, with expertise spanning pricing, financial reporting, valuation, asset-liability management, and risk management.
In addition, John Di Meo will be appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Hannover Re US. John has over 25 years of industry experience and currently serves as Chief Actuary and Appointed Actuary for the company. His leadership has encompassed financial reporting, regulatory compliance, actuarial modelling, and strategic planning.
These appointments mark a new chapter for Hannover Re US, building on a strong foundation established under Pete Schaefer’s leadership. Pete joined the company in 1999 as Chief Actuary and became President and CEO in 2001, guiding Hannover Re US through significant growth and transformation.
