Decorated Cyber Defense Veteran Joins Cy4Data Labs to Support Its Mission to Redefine Data Security on a Global Scale
Cy4Data Labs, the industry’s first cybersecurity company to protect data at every stage of its lifecycle, today announced the appointment of retired U.S. Army Brigadier General Paul G. Craft to its Board of Advisors. With over three decades of military and cybersecurity experience, Craft brings unparalleled insight into national and global cyber defense strategies.
“With a distinguished career defending against hostile nation-states, cybercrime syndicates, and evolving digital threats, Brigadier General Craft will be instrumental in shaping our roadmap for resilient, data-first security,” said Lance Smith, CEO of Cy4Data Labs. “We’re honored to welcome Paul and look forward to advancing our mission together—creating unbreakable data security that adapts as fast as the threats evolve.”
“Cy4Data Labs didn’t just patch the symptoms of cyber threats—they tackled the root cause: unprotected data,” said Craft. “Their platform encrypts data at the field level, even while in use, removing the window of opportunity cybercriminals rely on. As threat actors grow bolder and more creative, Cy4Secure gives defenders the advantage of total data protection resilience. I’m excited to support the team in delivering this vital capability to organizations around the world.”
A legacy of leadership in cybersecurity
Craft’s career includes senior roles across military cyber operations, innovation leadership, and global defense strategy. As the U.S. Army’s longest-serving Chief of Cyber, which included leading the Army’s Cyber and Electronic Warfare School, Craft oversaw the development of the next generation of the United States’ cyber defense professionals.
His command roles and senior leadership included leading global cyber operations across the Department of Defense's Information Network at Joint Force Headquarters–DoD Information Network (JFHQ-DODIN) and directing the digital defense efforts in combat, peacekeeping, and humanitarian missions.
He is no stranger to offensive cyber actions as he was also the Deputy Commanding General for Joint Force Headquarters-Cyber (Army) and Army Cyber Command.
Craft is also credited as standing up the Defense Information Systems Agency's Global Operational Command (DGOC) in 2016, which consolidated the cybersecurity and network operations across unclassified and classified secret networks for the DoD.
Cy4Data Labs’ flagship solution, Cy4Secure, is an advanced data security technology that protects unlimited structured and unstructured data fields, tables, and records—across and within existing on-premises, cloud, and SaaS environments—which includes not only data in flight or at rest but also while in use, keeping this data secure even if a system has been breached.
