Longstanding NH business changes hands
LONDONDERRY, NH / ACCESS Newswire / December 19, 2025 / After nearly three decades of dedicated service, GJM Construction & Maintenance, a regional leader in commercial sweeping, power washing, and exterior property maintenance, has been acquired by New Hampshire entrepreneur, Joel Feid. As part of this transition, the company will reintroduce itself under a new name: East Coast Power Sweeping.
Founded more than 28 years ago by Guy Macauda, GJM began with a single sweeper operating out of his parents' driveway. Over time, Macauda grew the business into a 17-person operation serving commercial properties from Oxford, MA to Meredith, NH, with extended power-washing routes into upstate New York and Connecticut, including longstanding work for national brands such as Walmart, Home Depot and Shaw's Supermarkets.
A Legacy Built on Relationships and Reliability
Macauda says the sale came together unexpectedly. "I wasn't looking to sell - it just happened," he shared. "I've poured everything into this business for 28 years. It's been my daily life and my passion. I'm proud of what we built."
Despite the change in ownership, Macauda will stay on in a consulting capacity to ensure a smooth transition. His 84-year-old father, who has long supported the business as part of the day porter team, will also continue in his seasonal role along with his niece who manages bookkeeping for the company.
"It's a true family business," Macauda said. "Joel has welcomed us all, and I know he'll take the company to the next level."
A New Chapter Under Joel Feid's Leadership
Feid, who brings a strong background in finance, operations, and organizational development, spent more than a year searching for the right business to acquire - one that aligned with both professional goals and his values around team development, service, and operational excellence.
"When I joined, my first priority was ensuring that employees and customers experienced a seamless transition," Feid said. "From paychecks and benefits to continuity of routes and service quality, I wanted everything to feel stable and familiar."
Since taking ownership, Feid has implemented several improvements:
Expanded employee benefits, including a two-week PTO program and a full holiday schedule
Boosted 401(k) participation from just 2 employees to 88%, demonstrating strong team investment
Operational enhancements including real-time invoicing, improved job tracking, and strengthened communication systems
A growth plan targeting 50% expansion over the next few years through new services, better pricing alignment, and extended partnerships
"I want our employees to feel supported - through wages, benefits, and opportunities," Feid said. "And I want our customers to feel the same high level of service they've always known, with even more efficiency and responsiveness."
Introducing East Coast Power Sweeping
As part of the company's evolution, Feid is rolling out the new name East Coast Power Sweeping - a brand that better reflects its core services and regional reach.
"The original name meant a lot to Guy and his family," Feid said. "But as we grow, we need a name that clearly communicates what we do and the markets we serve. East Coast Power Sweeping does exactly that."
