LeanMCP Unveils World's First Model Context Protocol (MCP) Capture the Flag Event for Developers and AI Enthusiasts
LeanMCP is a serverless platform for building, deploying, and hosting Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. It helps developers and non-technical users add Model Context Protocol (MCP) to AI workflows, with connections to external systems and tools. Founded by Lu Xian and Dheeraj Pai, LeanMCP is based in San Francisco and works on open-source AI standards.
LeanMCP, a San Francisco platform for Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, launches the world's first MCP Capture the Flag (CTF) event for developers and AI users. Held online and in-person in San Francisco. LeanMCP aids MCP server building; Agent Vibe coding (Text to Agent) lets non-tech users integrate MCP into AI workflows, enhanced by OpenAI's Agent Kit and MCP UI widgets. 8,000+ users use it in tools like Agent Kit, n8n, cursor. San Francisco, CA - October 17, 2025 - LeanMCP, a platform for building and deploying Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, today announced the launch of one of the largest Model Context Protocol (MCP)-focused Capture the Flag (CTF) events. The competition will be held both online and in-person in San Francisco. This marks a step in AI protocols since Model Context Protocol (MCP)'s release last year.

LeanMCP helps developers build and deploy Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. Its Vibe coding (Text to Agent) platform lets non-developers and non-technical users add Model Context Protocol (MCP) to their AI workflows. The platform's growth has increased a lot after OpenAI's Dev Day, where the Agent Kit used Model Context Protocol (MCP) as the default protocol for connecting tools with AI agents. This update added support for Model Context Protocol (MCP) UI widgets, which lets developers make AI apps.

"LeanMCP supports the latest Model Context Protocol (MCP) updates, making it easier for non-developers to build and deploy servers on our serverless hosting platform," said Lu Xian, CEO and co-founder of LeanMCP. "This CTF event is made to increase our outreach and help developers rank their skills in the Model Context Protocol (MCP) protocol."

The Capture the Flag event lets developers compete in multiple rounds—up to 30-50—where they must find hidden flags in the system. To win, they need deep knowledge of the Model Context Protocol and good technical skills. Unlike normal cybersecurity CTFs, which look at vulnerabilities in networks or systems, this is the first event only for Model Context Protocol (MCP). Most CTFs are for cybersecurity or other network protocols, but LeanMCP's event covers the gap in AI challenges.

Dheeraj Pai, co-founder of LeanMCP and a winner of multiple Olympiads in cryptography and cybersecurity, said about the event's ongoing setup: "This is not just a one-day hackathon. It is a continuous competition where developers can compete all the time, with updates as the Model Context Protocol (MCP) protocol changes. It is one of the quick ways for developers to learn details about the Model Context Protocol."

Lu Xian is the founder and CEO of LeanMCP. Previously, she was one of the top UI designers at Alibaba. Pai is also the founder of Serverless AI and HyperWeb AI. He has experience in secure protocols. Based in San Francisco, the two are raising a seed round for LeanMCP.

Since starting, LeanMCP has over 8,000 users who use the platform to build and deploy Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. These work in tools like OpenAI's Agent Kit, n8n, Gumloop, Claude Cursor, and other AI agents. LeanMCP recently hosted the largest Model Context Protocol (MCP) hackathon at SF Tech Week and previously had hosted during New York Tech Week as well.

The event is to build a group of Model Context Protocol (MCP) experts and support new ideas in AI connections and system links.
