Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of

On October 22, 2008, First Industrial Realty Trust, Inc. announced that Michael W. Brennan has
resigned as the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer and as a member of its Board of
Directors, effective immediately.
Ed Tyler, the Company’s Lead Director, has been appointed to serve as interim Chief Executive
Officer. Mr. Tyler, 55, has been a director of the Company since March 2000. Mr. Tyler has been
the CEO of Ideapoint Ventures, an early stage venture fund that focuses on nanotechnologies, since
2002. Prior to joining Ideapoint Ventures, Mr. Tyler served as Chief Executive Officer and a
director of Moore Corporation Limited, a provider of data capture, information design, marketing
services, digital communications and print solutions, from 1998 to 2000.
A committee of the Company’s Board of Directors has been formed to conduct the search for a
new Chief Executive Officer.
