Home Depot (HD) Q3 Earnings Report Preview: What To Look For

Home improvement retail giant Home Depot (NYSE: HD) will be announcing earnings results this Tuesday before market hours. Here’s what to expect.

Home Depot met analysts’ revenue expectations last quarter, reporting revenues of $45.28 billion, up 4.9% year on year. It was a slower quarter for the company, with a miss of analysts’ EBITDA estimates and EPS in line with analysts’ estimates.

This quarter, analysts are expecting Home Depot’s revenue to grow 2.5% year on year to $41.21 billion, slowing from the 6.6% increase it recorded in the same quarter last year. Adjusted earnings are expected to come in at $3.84 per share.

Analysts covering the company have generally reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days, suggesting they anticipate the business to stay the course heading into earnings. Home Depot has only missed Wall Street’s revenue estimates once over the last two years, exceeding top-line expectations by 0.9% on average.

Looking at Home Depot’s peers in the home furnishing and improvement retail segment, some have already reported their Q3 results, giving us a hint as to what we can expect. Floor And Decor delivered year-on-year revenue growth of 5.5%, meeting analysts’ expectations, and Arhaus reported revenues up 8%, topping estimates by 2%. Floor And Decor traded down 3.9% following the results while Arhaus’s stock price was unchanged.

Home Depot is down 6.8% during the same time and is heading into earnings with an average analyst price target of $435.70 (compared to the current share price of $362.68).
