PROSTAID Calgary (403-455-1916) announces its upcoming monthly meeting, which will feature a talk by a healthcare professional or a guest speaker from the medical field.
-- Following its annual Summer Picnic in July, PROSTAID Calgary announced its next scheduled meeting on the third Wednesday of August. The meeting for prostate cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and families will commence at 6 pm at the CKE Community Centre located at 1015 73 Ave SW.

The August 2025 meeting will feature Chelsea Anderson, a registered provisional psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists who works with cancer survivors. She is a returning guest speaker, having recently conducted couples counselling at PROSTAID Calgary's March 19th meeting. Anderson works with Dr. Lauren Walker at Waker Psychological Inc. and the Prostate Cancer Centre. She specializes in working with clients with trauma backgrounds and is a proponent of the biophysical approach to therapy.
The upcoming meeting will begin with a social gathering in the CKE lounge, followed by separate meetings from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm for Warriors (patients and survivors) and Wives & Caregivers. The meetings will also be available on Zoom for those who are unable to attend in person.
"Our monthly meetings feature prominent health specialists like Chelsea Anderson and include an opportunity to catch up with old friends or make new friends," said a spokesperson for PROSTAID Calgary. "It is our firm belief that you are entitled to know all you can about this disease and be thus informed, and make your own educated decisions regarding treatment and care."
There is no fee to attend PROSTAID Calgary meetings, and the nonprofit welcomes newcomers to a safe, compassionate, and inclusive space where patients and cancer survivors reassure and support each other based on their own experiences and battles with the disease. Members of the group can gain access to resources and The Digital Examiner's monthly journal, which features the latest information about treatments, community initiatives, speakers, and upcoming meetings.
PROSTAID Calgary is a volunteer-funded nonprofit founded in 1993 to strengthen patients in their battle against the disease through peer-to-peer support and public awareness campaigns. The group does not give medical advice or recommend treatments, but invites healthcare professionals who offer diverse perspectives from medical, para-medical, psychological, caregiving, and other related disciplines.
