Ready Computing Wins Contract for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veteran Data Integration and Federation (VDIF)

A strategic program that establishes the blueprint for interoperability of Veteran health records across the VA enterprise, paving the way for VA's overarching Electronic Health Record Modernization strategy

NEW YORK - July 30, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

Ready Computing, an innovative leader in healthcare IT services and solutions, has been awarded a five-year contract by the VA to support a key transition from the legacy Veterans Information System and Technology Architecture (VistA) Electronic Health Record (EHR) to the joint VA and Department of Defense (DoD) Cerner EHR platform. To facilitate this large-scale and complex transition, the VA, along with the Ready Computing Team, will sustain and integrate with the Veterans Data Integration and Federation (VDIF) Enterprise Platform (VDIF EP).

The VA is the nation’s largest integrated healthcare system, servicing more than nine million Veterans. Under the EHR Modernization (EHRM) initiative, the VA is faced with the mission-critical challenge of integrating historical and real-time data into a composite Veteran Health Record. Once integrated, the composite data must be accessible by Cerner and other applications through Application Programming Interfaces (API) based on integration profiles and standards such as IHE, HL7, X12, C-CDA, and FHIR. In order to create the Veteran Health Record, approximately 130 instances of VistA, as well as many other VA assets such as the Master Veterans Index (MVI) and the Identity and Access Manager (IAM), will be integrated under the VDIF EP.

EHRM depends on the successful sustainment and integration with the VDIF Enterprise Platform. Given the VDIF EP is based on InterSystems HealthShare, finding a strategic implementation partner certified in InterSystems HealthShare was key. After a competition, the VA selected Ready Computing.

"It is a tremendous honor, and very humbling, to have the opportunity to assist the VA in better serving its Veteran community," said Michael LaRocca, Founder and CEO at Ready Computing. "In collaboration with the VA and our partners, we will deliver one of the world’s largest and most strategic connected care solutions, and support the VA’s continuous efforts to streamline Veteran care.”

Ready Computing has partnered with B3 Group (B3) and Ellumen Inc. (Ellumen) to perform sustainment and integration work on  the VDIF EP. B3 and Ellumen bring extensive knowledge of the VA environment, deep technical expertise, and demonstrated success delivering solutions to the VA. Together, Ready Computing brings a scalable team of experts to perform technical services for the VA, many with experience providing services under programs such as Community Care Referrals and Authorization (CCRA), Standards and COTS Integration Platform (SCIP), and Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER) Data Access Service (DAS) programs. The Ready Computing Team’s proven experience delivering large-scale connected care solutions, intimate knowledge of the HealthShare platform, and deep familiarity with the VA’s environment, processes, and tools yield a highly-efficient, low-risk solution for the VDIF program.
