Doris Metropolitan, which is a popular steakhouse in Costa Rica and New Orleans, has announced the opening of their new restaurant in Houston, TX. Work on this location started in April 2017 and has now been fully completed. Itai Ben Eli, one of the three partners who founded the steakhouse, says: "Doris Metropolitan is a steakhouse, but not the kind you are envisioning. While old school charm and tradition have their place, especially in New Orleans, we are less conventional because we believe at its core, fine dining should be unpredictable and unprecedented. We have now brought this kind of dining to Houston."
When Itai Ben Eli and his other partners, Dori Rebi Chia and Itamar Levy, traveled to New Orleans a few years ago, they found the city's unmistakable energy very attractive. In 2013, Doris Metropolitan opened a steakhouse restaurant in the French Quarter where they offered expertly prepared dry aged beef and top quality meats. The Middle Eastern heritage of the founders were emphasized in the carefully designed menu, which also included vegetable-forward appetizers, an innovative caviar menu, local seafood, and seasonal sides.
The restaurant offers an exceptional beverage program with a wine list that offers over 700 bottles to choose from, becoming one of the top fine wine destinations in New Orleans. Craft-cocktail lovers will find a seasonal cocktail list that changes frequently.
Previously, the three partners had established a Doris Metropolitan restaurant in Costa Rica in 2010. Similar to the founding of the New Orleans restaurant, they were simply on vacation but they soon developed a deep admiration for the city and it's culture, vibe, and its people.
The New Orleans venue was named "New Orleans' Best New Restaurant" in 2014 by the New Orleans Magazine. The business hopes to receive similar recognition for their new Houston location. The move has been long anticipated. When their plans were announced in April, a flurry of attention immediately came their way. This was because the restaurant that was in the location before, Triniti Restaurant, was much loved, and people did not enjoy the empty space that was left in its place.
An announcement on the grand opening will soon be made, when people can finally come and experience Houston's latest restaurant.
