New rain barrel program offered in Colorado Springs to get residents engaged with water quantity and water quality issues.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Aug. 23, 2016 - PRLog -- The Greenway Fund is pleased to announce they are the first organization in Colorado offering "Ivy" Rain Barrels® through their new rain barrel program. They are offering the rain barrels at nearly a 50% discounted price to encourage residents to conserve precious water resources as well as to protect water quality.

Order rain barrels online at: http://www.rainbarrelprogram.org/COS.

Sale runs now through September 25 and pick up date is October 1, 2016. In celebration of the legal usage of rain barrels and rain water collection bill signed on August 10, 2016 by Governor Hickenlooper, the Greenway Fund is offering a limited quantity truck load sale of Ivy Rain barrels from Rain Water Solutions.

The rain barrels can be purchased directly through the program's website using a credit card. There will also be a limited number of rain barrels on the day of the sale on a first come first served basis. The normal retail price is $129.00, but through this special promotion they are only $75.00 each.

Order by September 25, 2016 and pick up October 1, 2016 in Colorado Springs from 8:00am to 11:00am at Legacy Plaza (Legacy Loop Trailhead), 1800 Recreation Way, COS, CO 80907. Quantities are limited.

"This program is an important step toward protecting clean water in our community because it offers an inexpensive and proven option to help people make a difference in their own backyards. I can't wait to buy mine and start proudly displaying Ivy at my house!" says Allison Plute. Plute serves on the board of the Greenway Fund and is the Fountain Creek Watershed Manager for Colorado Springs Utilities and organizer of Creek Week, an event to focus on cleaning up our waterways September 24 through October 1, 2016
(http://fountain-crk.org/cleanup.html for more info). "We are committed to protecting our water quality and mitigating the effects of storm water runoff. The use of rain barrels will provide residents the tools they need to conserve water, prevent water pollution, and reduce sedimentation in our lakes, rivers and streams."

The rain barrel captures rainwater from rooftops by connecting to the home's downspout. This water would typically be sent down the storm drain carrying potential contaminants and contributing to flash flooding. The cumulative effect of rain barrels implemented throughout a geographic area can have a significant impact on storm water management and water quality. Water collected by the rain barrels can be used for gardens, lawns, and to wash cars and pets.

"Ivy" Rain Barrels will be placed in community partner locations such as Triple S Brewing, located in downtown Colorado Springs, for people to view how easy the "Ivy" is to install in your yard, and the displays will include FAQs and more information on the warranty as well.
