Canisius College Joins SAGE Tuition Rewards® Enrollment Consortium

By: PRLog
Canisius College has joined Tuition Rewards®, a unique program sponsored by SAGE Scholars. Families earn rewards points that can be used to reduce tuition costs at a nationwide enrollment consortium of 350 participating private colleges and universities in 45 states.
PHILADELPHIA - Dec. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Canisius College, an open, welcoming university that espouses the Jesuit principles of service to humanity, has joined the SAGE Scholars Tuition Rewards® Private College & University Enrollment Consortium. 22 New York colleges now participate in the nation's largest private college enrollment initiative.

Canisius' 72-acre campus, in an historic, safe Buffalo neighborhood, rests atop a labyrinth of tunnels – an underground, vibrant network where friendships form on the path to class. The campus has been transformed in recent years with more than $150 million in capital investments to eight major residence halls and the newly opened Science Hall. Nearby are two Great Lakes, the city of Toronto and one of the world’s greatest attractions, Niagara Falls.

Canisius' nearly 3,000 undergraduate students can choose from more than 145 distinct majors, minors and special programs that emphasize experiential learning opportunities. A 1:12 faculty-student ratio ensures small classes. A global network of Canisius alumni connects students to internships, mentorships and other professional opportunities within some of the best companies in Western New York and beyond.

Fostering leadership, Canisius offers the opportunity to participate in a wide array of service immersion opportunities, in more than 100 clubs and organizations and as members of 17 NCAA Division 1 varsity athletic teams. 83 Catholic colleges now participate in Tuition Rewards.

Tuition Rewards encourages families to save for college. Financial organizations (529 Plans, banks, credit unions, employers, insurance firms, mutual funds, etc.) use the program as a value-added benefit, enabling clients and employees to earn rewards points that students can redeem for guaranteed minimum scholarships – tuition discounts – at member colleges. Rewards points are similar to frequent flyer miles and are submitted at time of application.  (1 point = $1.00)

Participation in Tuition Rewards is free to colleges and to families. Member colleges benefit by free marketing access to participating students (once they reach 9th grade). Colleges find the demographics attractive – families who have expressed interest in private higher education. Students typically are well-qualified academically and financially.

SAGE strongly promotes its member colleges – and the benefits of private higher education in general – to participating families.

SAGE's student database is expanding; SAGE's current senior class is 12.5% larger than 2015's senior class. 56,000 new students have enrolled in the program in 2015.

SAGE's high school class of 2015 submitted Tuition Rewards® points valued at $45.1 million to consortium colleges (25% increase). Drexel University was the leading college destination, receiving 248 rewards statements, correlated with applications.

Rochester Institute of Technology was the most popular New York member college with 90 students from the SAGE Class of 2015, followed by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with 55. Other regional leaders popular with SAGE's 2015 seniors included DePaul University (IL), Duquesne University (PA), Saint Norbert College (WI), University of Dayton (OH), University of San Diego (CA), University of Tampa (FL), Valparaiso University (IN) and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (MA).

Member colleges absorb the scholarships, which are "capped" at one full year’s tuition (spread evenly over four years) and can be included with other aid, as a marketing cost to effectively reach out to a wider audience than an individual college could on its own.
