"A Grateful Nation" receives top honor in Community Service Documentaries category at prestigious international competition.
PRLog - Jun 19, 2013 - ATLANTA -- Bloomquist Media, a marketing communications firm that specializes in harnessing the power of spoken word media, won a Gold Award at the prestigious New York Festivals International Radio Programs and Promos Awards.  The firm was honored for a Memorial Day radio program that raised awareness and funds for Fisher House Foundation, a non-profit that assists the families of wounded warriors.

The program, entitled A Grateful Nation, took Gold in the Community Service Documentaries category.  The program was also honored as a finalist in the Profiles/Community Portraits category.

“This award has tremendous meaning for us,” said Bloomquist Media President Randall Bloomquist.  “We are always striving for excellence; to produce compelling radio that both entertains the audience and makes them aware of an important community cause.  To be honored for creating a truly world-class radio program is a testament to the caliber of our work. ”

A Grateful Nation told four stories of service and sacrifice by members of the U.S. military and their families. Because Fisher House Foundation played a role in all of these stories, the organization’s message was organically woven into the compelling content.

The program aired during Memorial Day weekend 2012 on 65 news/talk radio stations, as well as Sirius XM satellite radio.

In a major innovation, Fisher House did not pay for this airtime but was instead compensated for providing quality holiday programming with five minutes of commercial time within the show, which Fisher House filled with messages soliciting financial support.

The 2013 edition of A Grateful Nation built on the concept and success of the first show to raise even more awareness and support for Fisher House. The program was expanded to three hours and aired on 145 radio stations, three Sirius XM channels and The Blaze, an Internet media station.

The New York Festivals International Radio Programs & Promos Competition honors radio programming and promotions in all lengths and formats from radio stations, networks and independent producers from around the globe.  Entries are judged online by award winning directors, producers, writers, reporters, creative directors, program directors, and various other radio industry experts from across the globe who volunteer their time.
