Extension to the HAFA Program Signals Another Year of Help Available For Homeowners in Los Angeles.

By: PRLog
PR Log - Feb 15, 2013 - The HAFA program provides options for “upside down” homeowners.  These homeowners owe more on their home than the property is currently worth and are in danger of foreclosure.  The primary sources of mortgage relief are short sales and deed-in-lieu.  Originally created in 2009, the HAFA program provides incentives for eligible homeowners including $3,000 in relocation assistance to help homeowners move on from a difficult financial situation with some money in their pocket.

“For distressed homeowners, the HAFA program provides options that homeowners did not have early in the foreclosure crises,” says Roger Horn, a Certified Distressed Property Expert with Pinnacle Estate Properties Inc. in Calabasas, California, who services both Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.  Horn also added that “It helps protect these homeowners and make sure that the short sale process is as easy as possible.”

A short sale occurs when the mortgage lender agrees to sell the home for less than is owed on the mortgage.  In many cases, this is the best option for both the lender and the homeowner. The HAFA program spells out clear guidelines that banks and servicers must follow in order to complete a short sale.

As a Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE), Roger Horn is specially trained to help homeowners who find themselves facing foreclosure.  “It is important to me that homeowners know that they have options,” Horn said. “Many times, people threatened with foreclosure believe there is nothing they can do so they just bury their head in the sand.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  These programs can help a family in distress end the misery of the unknown and start fresh with some much needed funds.”

Roger Horn has developed a free report with more information on the HAFA program and the options available to homeowners facing foreclosure. The report, entitled, “Struggling to Make Your Mortgage? Uncle Sam May Pay You to Sell Your House!,” is accessible from his website, www.CaShortSaleInfo.com.
