Texas Trust Credit Union’s Spirit Debit Card Rewards Local High Schools with Cash

By: PRLog
PR Log - Sep 07, 2011 - Texas Trust Credit Union is giving some local North Texas high schools something to cheer about. With the launch of Spirit Debit Rewards, cardholders can help schools earn cash for the classroom with every swipe of their Texas Trust Credit Union Spirit Debit Reward card.

Participating schools will receive 15 cents every time an active Spirit Debit card is used to make a purchase. With more than 1,100 active card-carrying Spirit Debit cardholders, Texas Trust Credit Union anticipates giving away $75,000 this school year to the schools enrolled in the program. Schools will receive a check each month for cardholders' previous months purchases.

The Texas Trust Spirit Debit Rewards Card is currently available to members in the Grand Prairie, Mansfield, Cedar Hill, and Athens school districts. Rewards can be designated for any one of 11 high schools in these districts.

“We are pleased with Mansfield ISD’s partnership with Texas Trust Credit Union," said Terry Morawski, Assistant Superintendent of Communications and Marketing for Mansfield Independent School District. "The Spirit Debit Reward program is a positive way for our schools to generate money at a critical time when state education funding has been cut. Texas Trust enriches school spirit and community through all of its generous support.”

Cardholders and schools can track the performance of the money being raised for their designated school on the Spirit Rewards Meter at http://www.ourspiritinaction.com. A Spirit Rewards video is also available on YouTube to help spread the word about the friendly spirit competition.

The Spirit Debit Rewards program is part of Texas Trust’s Spirit in Action education initiative. Members can earn rewards for designated schools when opening a checking account or taking out an auto loan, personal loan, or mortgage. In 2010, Texas Trust donated more than $69,000 to participating schools. Texas Trust also provides trainers for the Texas Education Agency approved financial education curriculum for high school students and conducts numerous financial literacy workshops each year for students, teachers, administrators, and the community.
