Brigadier General Paul Craft, U.S. Army (Ret.), Joins Appgate Federal Advisory Board

Craft is the Founder of the Defense Information Systems Agency’s Global Operations Command and Former Director of Cybersecurity Operations Across the Department of Defense for U.S. Cyber Command

Appgate, the secure access company, today announced that Brigadier General Paul Craft, US Army, (Ret.) has joined its Federal Advisory Board. Craft brings more than 30 years of progressive technical and organizational leadership experience to the board, with expertise in network operations, cybersecurity, offensive cyber operations, Zero Trust architectures, cloud security, and AI-enabled solutions.

Craft's distinguished military career includes being the longest-serving Chief of Cyber for the U.S. Army and Commandant of the Army’s Cyber and Electromagnetic Warfare School. He also founded and commanded the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Global Operations Command, responsible for one of the Department of Defense’s largest network and cybersecurity operations centers. At U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM), he directed the Department of Defense’s global cybersecurity operations, implementing Zero Trust principles, secure internet access, and developing cloud security frameworks.

As the Founder and CEO of Craft Cyber Group, Craft advises companies on strategic goals with a focus on Zero Trust and artificial intelligence technologies. His extensive background in federal cybersecurity policy, procurement processes, and the challenges faced by government agencies adopting new cybersecurity solutions makes him a valuable addition to the Appgate Federal Advisory Board.

"I am excited to join Appgate's Federal Advisory Board and contribute to a company dedicated to advancing Zero Trust security solutions," said General Craft. "I look forward to leveraging my training and experience to help Appgate deliver more innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the federal government."

Craft's experience also includes leading offensive cyber operations and active defenses for the DOD’s network in three major theaters simultaneously; engineering, operating, and securing advanced networks; and managing cyber policy and resources in the Department of the Army CIO/G-6 office.

"This board is pivotal to our increased focus on the U.S. Government’s cybersecurity initiatives. General Craft’s expertise will ensure our Zero Trust solutions meet the stringent requirements of federal agencies, particularly in navigating the complexities of hybrid environments, to ensure secure access to critical resources," said Leo Taddeo, CEO of Appgate.

This brings the Appgate Federal Advisory Board to a total of five distinguished members, including current members Rodney Lewis, Major General (Ret.). U.S. Air Force; Jay Bonci, former CTO of the U.S. Department of the Air Force; Dennis Dias, former member of the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service; and John Zangardi, former CIO of Department of Homeland Security and acting CIO and PD for the Department of Defense, who was recently appointed to the board.
