Texas Mutual Approves Additional $240 Million for Health Affiliate Texicare

Texicare announced today it has received approval for $240 million in additional funding from Texas Mutual, the state’s leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance, to be distributed over the next several years. The latest approval brings Texicare’s total approved funding to $300 million.

“Texicare is bringing small businesses the health plans they need to provide accessible, holistic health care to Texans and their families,” said the Honorable Ron Simmons, who serves as Chairman for both the Texicare and Texas Mutual boards of directors. “This support from Texas Mutual demonstrates the organization’s long-term partnership with the Texicare team. We are confident Texicare is providing a truly differentiated option for the millions of small businesses operating in our state.”

Last year, Texicare launched its health care options in Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland, Odessa, Houston and El Paso, with health plans to expand to additional markets in 2025.

“We want Texas small businesses to offer health care options they can be proud of and that help keep employees healthy and happy,” said Meredith Duncan, CEO of Texicare. “Small business owners are telling us that our health plans are unique—and we’re just getting started. Texas Mutual’s commitment enables us to grow our offerings and work towards reaching every corner of Texas.”

"Texas Mutual is deeply committed to supporting initiatives that grant Texas businesses and their employees access to the resources they need to grow and thrive,” said Jeanette Ward, president and chief executive officer of Texas Mutual. “Texicare helps us to deliver on that commitment by making health care more accessible and affordable. Together, we’re empowering small businesses to take care of their employees while strengthening Texas’ workforce for generations to come.”
