Kiwi Lands $100 Million Credit Facility to Serve U.S. Hispanic Consumers

Kiwi, the fintech company building AI-powered financial tools for underbanked Latinos in the U.S., today announced it has secured a $100 million credit facility from Community Investment Management (CIM). This financing follows the company’s $8 million Series A earlier this year and will accelerate its mission of expanding access to responsible credit for underserved Latino communities nationwide.

Founded in 2020 by Mariano Sanz and Alexander Schachter, both originally from the Dominican Republic, Kiwi was created to address the financial challenges faced by Hispanic consumers in the U.S. who have limited or no credit history. Since launch, the platform has already served more than 100,000 consumers.

Kiwi’s strategy draws on proven models from emerging markets: start with access to credit, then expand into savings, spending, and other financial tools that build long-term trust and economic mobility.

“We are very excited about partnering with CIM given our aligned mandates of promoting impact and economic mobility to underbanked consumers,” said Mariano Sanz, co-founder and CEO of Kiwi. “Access to credit is about promoting possibilities, and AI is helping us deliver this reality for millions excluded from traditional financial products.”

The partnership underscores Kiwi’s significant market opportunity and CIM’s commitment to supporting innovative financial solutions.

“Kiwi is filling an important gap in the market, providing simple and transparent access to capital that builds credit history,” said Jacob Haar, Managing Partner of CIM. “This partnership is a meaningful step toward giving minority communities better access to financial opportunities.”

With this new capital, Kiwi will expand into additional states, launch new products, and scale its platform to reach millions of consumers. Latino communities make up nearly 20% of the U.S. population and contribute over $4 trillion to the economy annually, yet remain vastly underserved by mainstream institutions. Kiwi is purpose-built to close that gap.
